Major League Baseball Players Who Have Recorded Songs

Owens never was the answer in center field, though. At best, Owens projected out to be a player like Luis Castillo-a player who did not get a ton of extra base hits, but was always on the basepaths and creating havoc. Castillo never has had a season in the majors with a slugging percentage over .400, but with the exception of 2001, Castillo has never had a season in which he has had over 400 at-bats and an OPS below .700. In his heyday, Castillo simply got on base enough to make up for his lack of power.

Assists: The Tigers had 1,668 assists in 2010, which ranked them ninth in the majors. The Cardinals were first with 1,872 assists, and the Giants were last with 1,485. The top ten teams in assists were the Cardinals, Indians, Braves, Twins, Rockies, Athletics, Blue Jays, Phillies and Tigers.

Erik Bedard is slated to get the start for the Red Sox in this one. He is winless in three starts since coming over from Seattle at the end of July. The left-hander is 4-8 with an ERA of 3.44 in 19 starts this season. Lifetime against the Rangers, Bedard is 4-3 with a 3.22 Era.

With a roster spot open, the Sox then called up outfielder Alejandro De Aza. He had an immediate impact with the Sox. In his first at bat of the season, De Aza hit a two-run homerun as the White Sox defeated the Tigers 2-1. John Danks struck out 10 in picking up his 4th win of the season and Santos got his 21st save. With the win, the Sox moved to 51-52, 1 1/2 games behind the Cleveland Indians and just 3 1/2 behind the Tigers. The Sox now get a day off in preparation for their big weekend series against the A.L. East leading Boston Red Sox. Gavin Floyd (8-9) will face Tim Wakefield (6-3).

Putouts: The Tigers ranked 13th in total putouts with 4,333. The sale jerseys were ahead of the Tigers with 4,339 and the Yankees were behind the Tigers with 4,327. The top teams in putouts were the Giants (4,383), Red Sox, Phillies and Padres were tied, Rangers, Cardinals and Rays were tied, Mets and Reds were tied, Twins, Angels, sale jerseys and Tigers. The team with the least number of putouts was the Pittsburgh Pirates with 4,235.

However, the magic or talent has not been the same in 2013. The White Sox are currently at the bottom of the division and not many things are going right. Jake Peavy is injured again, Sale is struggling, and Paul Konerko could be finally showing his age. Then, there is Adam Dunn, with a batting average that is lower than some co-ed league bowling scores.

So, two things to watch for with Owens this spring: if he’s able to hit the ball with authority and if he’s able to be patient and get on base a lot. If he can’t do those two things, he still may win the starting centerfield job, but he won’t be any kind of a long-term solution.
